Located in the Amoreiras neighbourhood of Lisbon sits an elegant 20th century town house which is transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel, Sublime Lisboa. With just 15 rooms, the design interprets the concept of Sublime’s bigger sister in Comporta but with a mirror held to its slick city-esque surroundings. With magnificent architecture on the hotel’s doorstep, the aesthetics explore the wonders of the old aristocracy expressed with the floor to ceiling windows, original staircases & eclectic furniture.
Originally built in the 1900s, the building has a legacy of more than 100 years, witnessing regime changes & revolutions. Until the 1940s, it was home to a Japanese community, Club Japonês, which began in the capital after World War II. In the late 60s, the building that is now Sublime Lisboa was a gathering for international jet-set figures like Audrey Hepburn, Aga Khan & Diane Von Fürstenberg, where they gathered to attend the most dazzling parties of the high society. If the walls could speak at Sublime today, guests would hear tales of the decades of the discoveries & celebrations.
Set back from the buzz of the Bairro Alto & the chaos of Chaido, this is a spot for those who wish to be able to see a more local side to Lisbon.

Favourite room: Each room in the hotel has its personality, with a well-curated palette of colors such as natural fibers & indoor & outdoor greenery, inviting the city’s vibrant culture into each of the 15 rooms. Our favorite room would be the Sublime Suite located on the 1st & 2nd floors of the building, including a private outdoor terrace or balcony to enjoy Lisbon views.

Things to know: If you’re looking to be in the centre of town, perhaps this hotel is not for you, but if you’re happy to enjoy a little extra walk, it’s perfect.
